Senate panel don't care about poor people

I'm just joking (obvious). But seriously, as more and more details about this debate come to light and we move away from the bullshit and lies, it's become clear to me that this is a fight of the haves vs the have nots.

Only thing is some dummies out there don't realize how quickly you can go from have to have not when an unexpected illness kicks in or you lose your job...

CNN reported today that the Senate Finance Committee rejected two amendments to include a government-run public health insurance option in the only compromise health care bill so far.

The amendments by Democratic Sens. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Charles Schumer of New York were opposed by all 10 Republicans on the committee and a few Democrats, including committee Chairman Sen. Max Baucus of Montana.

Baucus explained that he liked much about the idea of a public option but that he knew a health care bill containing the provision would fail to win enough support in the full Senate to overcome a Republican filibuster.
Clearly, those on the conservative side will do anything to stop the bill on general principle. But what's adding to public opposition is those who feel like "Eh, well I have health care and I'm happy (enough) with it so... why do we need to change anything?"

Well, we need to change it because there are a lot of Americans who cannot afford health care and will not be able to get health care without this public option. It's not that hard to understand. Just stop being so self-important and watch how quickly it all makes sense.

One thing that I don't understand is the conservative argument that a public option will cause private insurance providers to go out of business. First of all, no. And secondly, if a not-for-profit health care option ends up being SO MUCH BETTER and CHEAPER than what private insurance companies could offer...like so amazingly AWESOME that everyone wanted to get on it, then how is that a bad thing?

'Xplain?

....Post script, here's a funny PSA parody "Don't Ruin American Healthcare" in case you missed it.
